AR Trip Fun!

We are pleased to announce that the entire fourth grade met their AR goal for the 9 weeks! Our reward.. A trip to the party palace today! Below are some pictures from today.

Red Ribbon Week Pumpkin Contest

Below are the 4th grade Red Ribbon week pumpkins. Miss Carnes' class created the "blue screen of death" pumpkin. Mrs. Hensley's class created the "batty pumpkin".

Wiring Houses in Science

Jesse D. Lay Dinner & Show

Lay Elementary's annual Dinner and a Show will be held Friday Night, Oct 14, 7pm at KCMS. Watch students "Dance through the Decades" after enjoying dinner in the cafeteria starting at 5:30pm. Tickets are $6 adults, $5 children. For more information call Lay Elementary at (606)546-6524.

Kentucky Folk Songs and Ms. Linda Oxendine

Today our students were privileged to have Ms. Linda Oxendine come play the dulcimer for our class. Ms. Oxendine played several folk songs for our students and told the students some history about Daniel Boone. Ms. Oxendine is a retired Knox County teacher. Today a Kentucky author, K. Melissa Burton came to speak to our students about Kentucky history and the writing process. K. Melissa Burton has written With Purpose and Promise, Now That's Interesting! Kentucky's Capitol, and Kentucky's Boone: The Pioneer Spirit. Below are some pictures of the event.
